End of The Week Check In

Hello friends!

Its Saturday evening...I'm making sloppy joe for a few lunchtime meals for the start of the week, laundry is still going, the kitchen table is more cluttered than I'd like it to be (old farmhouses need bigger pantries!), I'm still working on transitioning decorations from winter to spring and anxiously awaiting my husband's arrival home so we can eat a big bowl of popcorn to finish up the week.

Has it felt like a week to everyone? Like an extra strange week, maybe a little chaotic with a side of exhausting kind of week?

It's been just that kind of week for me- absolutely blessed, but I felt like I had all the extra things to do this week and not enough time for anything. I just felt extra "off" this week and this introverted heart has all the feels during those kind of weeks.

Have you ever felt defeated by the end of the week? Maybe your heart hurts a little more than normal or you just feel absolutely exhausted and drained? Perhaps you feel like me and your to do list is still overflowing with things that aren't checked off yet?

I invite you to consider looking back over your week, whether it was blessed with a light heart, sad with a heavy heart, mundane and boring, crazy busy, or one of the worst you can remember.

Count a blessing from each day, consider all the •good• God blessed you with- one thing each day...

• Sunday: I was a part of an amazing church service kicking off the Lent season- what a blessing getting to serve next to all who participated

• Monday: the receptionist got me into the doctors the same day I called in, this never happens!! I didn't have to take off work early to get to it AND everything turned out ok

• Tuesday: I was able to enjoy supper and ice cream (and boy do I LOVE ice cream) with my husband and in laws for a small birthday celebration

• Wednesday: I received a text from a very special friend in my life- checking in and also reminding me she's keeping me in her prayers (prayer blessings are some of the BEST blessings!)

• Thursday: God provided me with wisdom for my preparations for our church service this Sunday, I was really struggling with coming up with a good opening for our service. Mission officially accomplished!

• Friday: I had the day off- long story on that but I was so tickled to enjoy the ugly weather from inside! You see, after milking cows in snow and rainy weather, getting hit with sloppy wet cow tails and dealing with temperamental cows with the rains changed, not to mention the barn got cold!- I sure enjoy getting to stay in now when I can. Plus, snow on the farm is one of my favorite things.

• Saturday: I spent part of my day putting a puzzle together; although it seems mundane, I haven't taken the time to enjoy this since COVID first hit, true story! (I also bet my husband I could get the 1000 piece puzzle put together before he made it home from work tonight. It's officially 10PM, he's not home and I've been done with the puzzle since 3PM- guess who's getting a fancy coffee treated to her?!)

These are just a few of my blessings this week and I have many more I could list for each day, but you catch my drift! Give it a try- pop open that journal and pull out your favorite pen! You will be AMAZED at the lists you could make. It makes you realize that no matter how defeated or heartbroken you might be feeling, there's always, always, always something (or seven things) to be thankful for.

I'd love to hear what's on your lists! Please feel free to share any or all your blessings and happy heart moments for the week!

Tomorrow morning when I stand up in church, I'm going to talk about "Great is Thy Faithfulness". Need I have to remind everyone of my love for this song. If there was a theme song for my life, I'd choose this one in a heart beat.

As you go into this week, remember that God will provide you with all you need. He will forgive you when you confess your sins and He will give you peace. This hymn, written by Thomas Chisholm and based on the book of Lamentations, reminds us of God's continuous and unwavering faithfulness. Even in the midst of trouble, such as the poor health Thomas faced and experienced each day, God's faithfulness, love and compassion is unfailing. May we keep that reminder in our hearts this week.

Many blessings of good health, safe travels and happy hearts as you go into this new week ❤️

The start of a BIG snow storm on Friday; ok, just kidding, it didn't turn out to be a snow storm or big at all, but the snow falling was still pretty and exciting!

God’s blessings are so frequent and so many. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed to try to write them all down, since I don’t want any of them to go unnoticed by me. Among the greatest blessings is first the love of Jesus. My family and friends and those people in our lives who model and inspire us with love like His—we are surrounded with those who love us even though we are far from perfect, They are a special gift!! I am grateful for The continuous access through prayer, I am constantly praying, to God who loves us and wants the best for us. And 5 different churches in my life where His foundation and love have been l…
